60/6 Challenge Day 2

Round 2 my friends! Are you ready for my next smattering of awesome children literature!!!? Good! The time has come! Here's your (or rather, my) top 11-20!!!!

11. This is Not My Hat

When a tiny fish shoots into view wearing a round blue topper (which happens to fit him perfectly), trouble could be following close behind. So it's a good thing that enormous fish won't wake up. And even if he does, it's not like he'll ever know what happened..This book is hilarious! You'll love it!

12. Stephanie's Ponytail

Stephanie is determined to be an individual and to arrive at school every day with a hairdo more outraegous than the day before. And each time, the cast of copycats grows and grows --- until the day she threatens to shave her head! This book is a great message of non-conformity and is completely and utterly funny!!!!!

13. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

If a hungry little mouse shows up at your house, you might want to give him a cookie. If you give him a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. He'll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache, and then he'll ask for a pair of scissors to give himself a trim....The consequences of giving a cookie to this energetic mouse runs the young host ragged with constant domino effects. And bonus-the illustrations are ADORABLE!!!

14. If You Give a Moose a Muffin

If a big hungry moose comes to visit, you might give him a muffin to make him feel at home. If you give him a muffin, he'll want some jam to go with it. When he's eaten all your muffins, he'll want to go to the store to get some more muffin mix. Once again our little host runs around trying to please our moose! And once again the pictures are precious!

15. The Sniffles for Bear

Bear has a terrible cold. In fact, Bear is quite sure that no one has ever been as sick as he is. So when Mouse comes tap, tap, tapping on his front door eager to make Bear "as good as new" by reading a sunny story, singing a rousing chorus and plinking a twangy tune on her banjo, the pitifully coughing Bear - growing weaker by the minute - is convinced that his tiny friend does not appreciate the gravity of the situation. Can there be any saving Bear from his certain demise? I picked this up at work and customers  kept asking me what I was giggling at!  All of it! Especially when they start writing Bear's will. So funny! This is a Top-Favorite- Erika book of all time! It's that good!

16. Russell the Sheep

This is Russell. Sometimes Russell is just a little bit out of step with the rest of the flock. All the sheep are falling asleep -- except Russell. What's a sheep to do? Russell tries everything ... until, at last, he falls asleep. You will love the pictures almost as much as you'll love this sheep insomniac!

17. The Empty Pot

The Emperor of China makes an exciting announcement. He says that all of the children can have a seed and whoever can grow the most magnificent flower can be his successor. Ping tries and tries to grow a flower but when nothing grows he has to present his pot to the Emperor. This is an amazing story about the importance of honesty! Seriously!

18. Green Eggs and Ham

Follow Sam I Am as he tries to convince an acquaintance that green eggs and ham is, indeed, a delectable meal to be savored everywhere and every way. Not to brag or anything but this is the first book I remember reading all by myself! haha So what do you say? Do you like green eggs and ham? Would you eat them Sam I Am?

19. Snowmen at Night

Have you ever built a snowman and discovered the next day that his grin has gotten a little crooked, or his tree-branch arms have moved? And you've wondered . . . what do snowmen do at night? This delightful tale reveals all! I know I said no Christmas! I didn't lie to you! This is more of a winter tale! There is a Christmas version of this book that I will review someday! The illustrations are AMAZING!

20. How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?

In a few simple lines of verse on each spread, fathers and mothers are ready to put their youngsters to bed. But in this book, the youngsters are a wide variety of dinosaurs. And how do dinosaurs say good night? In the end, young dinosaurs behave a lot like people do: They give a big kiss, turn out the light, tuck in their tails, and whisper "good night." This is a fabulous book and little boys tend to eat it up! Dinosaurs are just that fantastic! :D

So there you have it! I think round 2 was a success! See you tomorrow for round 3!!!!!
